Be sure to unplug all appliances when you leave for work in the morning or when you are done with them in general.  I’m sure you are wondering what this is all about & why this is a post here & not somewhere else.  Here’s why (I can tie this back into our dogs pretty easily).

I was getting ready for work this morning & was blowing my hair dry.  I put the dryer back on its hook & was doing something else when I heard this weird rattling and crackling noise.  I looked down where the hair dryer was hanging & it was physically moving, wiggling.  Also, it was smoking really badly & sparks were flying out of the front of it.  I unplugged it, carried it to the garage, opened the garage door & put it in the middle of the driveway.  I wasn’t going to bring it back in the house.  I went back to the bathroom & the stench of burnt wiring & plastic was present & really gross.  Eventually, when I left for work, I put it in the trash.  I decided against leaving it in the driveway because the neighbor’s kids are loose all day long & I was afraid they would pick it up & try to use it or something.

Please unplug things when you aren’t using them, especially hair driers & curling irons and irons for clothes, even your toasters.  Normally, I’m pretty anal about making sure I do that.  But, on the off chance I’d forgotten to do that this morning, it could have caused a fire that could have done harm to our dogs.  That would not have been good.
