From Dave...
Jessie is a rockin' brown dog. Jessie is also evil. All in all,
Jessie is probably the most complex dog that we will own.
Jessie came to us from a breeder in Colorado . She was causing
a stir in the airport when she arrived and has caused on in the
household since her arrival.
I don't remember Jessie laying down to rest until she was four
years old and had a litter of pups. Jessie was just a busy puppy
that turned into a busy adult.
The best way to describe her is fearless. She will do just about
anything at least once and in most instances a few times. Her attitude
has always been to take any punishment because whatever she did
was worth it.
Jessie was a good mom with her litter. They had a bit of a rough
start as she kept carrying around the two liver and white pups
in her mouth. We never did figure that out, but eventually she
stopped doing it.
The best Jessie puppy story happened with the pups were around
4 weeks old. At that time they were down in our laundry room in
a corner with an exercise pen around them. About 2 in the morning
we hear Jessie carrying on and went racing down to see what was
going on. Well the x-pen was butted up near the floor drain where
the water softener drained into. At 2am the water softener was
running and the water was lapping at the edge of the x-pen. Jessie
was convinced that her puppies were going to be swept away in the
rushing water (which was a trickle). She was indeed a good mom.
A few years later we started doing some field work with Jessie.
She was a natural at it. In fact she liked this way better than
being at dog shows. Jessie was a pretty lousy show dog, although
she did get her title and did quite well. She always had that beaten
dog look when she was at a show. In the field she didn't have this
problem.
Jess has a good nose and ran pretty well. When we started she
would scoop the occasional bird and bring it back to you. With
the help of a trainer she was broken of this habit. She finished
her Junior Hunter at the age of 9 and still runs almost every day
at the farm at the age of 12.5. She is also still used as a "different
colored dog" at the farm for training young dogs to back.
Jessie's evil side shows up when she doesn't get enough attention.
She will go out of her way to do really dumb things to get that
attention. When she gets it, she doesn't want it. It's pretty weird. |
